In some cases, we get out of alignment with God and for some it is very difficult to get back to that place of having God pleased with us. To help us stay in alignment with God we can take a look at Psalm 101 which gives us rules to follow as a child of God. Again, let us take a keen look at this psalm, when you examined the psalm carefully you will realize that the psalmist got distracted and he has been removed from that sacred place. He wants to get back in favor with God, so he begins by stating in verse 1: that he will praise God. Verse 2: he’s telling God, that he will change his negative behavior. Verse 3: he tells God, that he will stay away from anything ungodly. Verse 4-5: he will leave proud, wicked, and disrespectful people alone. Verse 6-7: he will be selective of who he associates with, further he has no dealings with people who are deceptive.
Food for thought: it is very important that you understand, that a person who is deceptive to another can also be deceptive to you. This is not personal. The devil uses peoples’ minds to hurt or deceive you, based on various weaknesses in their spirit. If you know of someone who is deceptive to others, even though they are your friend now, rest assure, they have the ability to deceive you also. It just takes the right opportunity.
In general, Psalm 101 gives you advice, on staying in the path of righteousness. The great King David, wrote this psalm, telling God what he plans to do to remain consistently in His presence. You can do the same. Stand on psalm 101 and reap divine benefits. Peace be onto you.
Psalm 101 (King James Version)
1I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.
2I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
4A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
5Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
6Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
7He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
8I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.
